Finding Light Through The Darkness of Loss
Grief is a natural, human response to loss — yet no two journeys through it are the same. At New Dawn Counselling, we understand that grief can feel overwhelming, isolating, and deeply painful. Whether you’re grieving the loss of a loved one, a relationship, a job, or even a life you once envisioned, your feelings are valid.
We are here to help you process grief — without pressure, without judgment, and always at your pace.

What is Grief, What is Loss?
- Loss: The event or circumstance in which something or someone meaningful is taken away (e.g., death, breakup, job loss, pet bereavement).
- Grief: The emotional response to that loss — how we feel, think, and react.
Grief can affect your emotions, thoughts, physical health, and relationships. You may feel sadness, anger, guilt, or even numbness. You might find it hard to concentrate, sleep, or connect with others. These are all natural responses to loss.
Grief: Is highly individual — people grieve in very different ways and on different timelines.
But healing is possible — not by “moving on” or “getting over it,” but by learning to carry your loss with love, finding new meaning, and gently moving forward.

"Grief activates the part of the brain linked to attachment. It’s not just sadness — it’s the mind struggling to make sense of the absence."
– Dr. Mary-Frances O'Connor (Neuroscientist and author of The Grieving Brain)

You Are Not Alone
Grief is so individual and impossible to compare to someone else's grief process. For some, they feel they cannot talk to family or friends; 'I don't want to upset them', 'they think I should be over it by now', 'I can't be honest with them'.
Grief is a journey — and you don’t have to walk it alone. At New Dawn, we’re here to support you with empathy, respect, and care.
